MARY

Direct biblical statement

Luke 2:7

Her firstborn Son

7 And she brought forth her first born son and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger: because there was no room for them in the inn.

Douay–Rheims · Challoner revision · Luke 2:7

Why this matters

Mary gives birth, wraps Jesus, and lays him in a manger. The scene expresses concrete maternal care in humble circumstances. “Firstborn” is a legal and familial designation and need not imply later children.
