Exodus 40:34–35
The cloud of glory
34 If at any time the cloud removed from the tabernacle, the children of Israel went forward by their troops:
35 If it hung over, they remained in the same place.
Douay–Rheims · Challoner revision · Exodus 40:34–35
Why this matters The cloud covers the Tabernacle and the glory of the Lord fills it. Catholic interpretation compares this divine dwelling with the overshadowing in Luke 1:35. The literal referent is the sanctuary.
