Judith 13:18
Blessed above women
23 And Ozias the prince of the people of Israel, said to her: Blessed art thou, O daughter, by the Lord the most high God, above all women upon the earth.
24 Blessed be the Lord who made heaven and earth, who hath directed thee to the cutting off the head of the prince of our enemies.
Douay–Rheims · Challoner revision · Judith 13:23–24
The curated reference uses modern numbering. This Douay–Rheims edition reads Judith 13:23–24. The quoted verse numbers follow the source edition.
Why this matters
Judith is praised for her role in the deliverance of her people. Marian liturgy borrows this language of blessing; Judith remains its direct historical subject. This is an analogy in the tradition, not a verse naming Mary.
